No Music No Life

Music is my muse, my inspiration to live. No matter how I feel, there is always a certain song that I can relate to. Sometimes I find myself emotional because of how much the lyrics of a song touches my heart. The feeling I get while listening to music, is unexplainable. I love it. I don’t like music because it’s catchy or popular. I look deeper into it; the lyrics, the notes, the melody, the meaning. Although, listening to my iPod could be seen as just a way to pass time, I see it more as a spiritual way to connect to artists, to understand them through relating my own experiences, thoughts, and feelings. It is possible to write pages about the topic of music and why I feel it is important, but I believe that keeping things short, honest, and full hearted always convey the most truthful essence of passion towards such a topic. Music, to me, is the art of taking words and melodies, and amorously putting them together that in turn form a masterpiece that appeals not only to the ear, but also to the heart.

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words 8th – 14th December 2013 and the theme is Music.

I write a lot, which keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. There is always something to write about, always a new story to craft. Not writing, for me, is like trying to hold back a sneeze. Learning to write was the most powerful influence in my life. I can still remember the awe I felt when I realized I could put real words onto paper and tell out a story. From that first ‘a-ha’ moment I knew I wanted to write.

thats the problem i have with most songs these days… they have inane lyrics and tunes you cant even sing… just people talking with a synthesized background. It is so unlike the music we used to listen to even a decade ago… songs you could hum and sing on stage, if necessary.
Good music lasts.. even generations later, you can still hum it and say – this was lovely and heartfelt.

My take on the prompt: http://www.godyears.net/2013/12/sing-to-me.html

You are right.. Some songs can reduce you to tears. I remember having tears in my eyes when I heard ‘Ma’ from Taare Zameen Par.. And I hadn’t even seen the film then. It’s amazing how powerful music can be.
