Review: I usually opt to read a book after reading the blurb and after reading blurb of this current book – Anya’s Lyric by Nikhil Kumar, I cannot say the book disappointed me but it did not entertain me either. The book is a collection of stories or incidents that are related with Anya. Anya is a differently abled person who is written in an ordinary way. For me nameless characters are confusing and this is what made this book not up to my mark. The characters are “A woman with a mole on her left cheek” “A man with one hand” “The magician”, which did confuse me, but I should mention this style of writing I never came across earlier. This needs an appreciation. I really wish characters had names so that this would have turned out to be a good read for me at least. Sometimes I lost the flow, where I had to stop, re-read to understand the plot. It took lots of my efforts and brain into reading it, so I would say; it is a difficult and different reading. The cover of the book Anya’s Lyric is very attractive, I liked it. Despite the fact being a short novel, as it got confused in between, I had to give it 4days to complete. I liked author Nikhil Kumar’s writing and narration style. I found the story to be simple but written in a very complex way. Reading this book was a different experience and one of the kinds of 2016 for me. And I am not spilling beans on – the opening sentence, “I was born because of one man’s inability to read”, to know why was she born because of a man’s inability to read, you will have to read the book to find out more. Happy Reading.

I write a lot, which keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. There is always something to write about, always a new story to craft. Not writing, for me, is like trying to hold back a sneeze. Learning to write was the most powerful influence in my life. I can still remember the awe I felt when I realized I could put real words onto paper and tell out a story. From that first ‘a-ha’ moment I knew I wanted to write.
