Caught by surprise

It was 10 am of a Sunday morning and I was still on my bed. I had been travelling through the week and just wanted to take rest to release all my stress. I logged in and found there were no notifications from her. I know she is lazy on Sunday so I thought she must be sleeping. I picked up the newspaper and got back to the bed.

Flipping through the paper, my phone rang and it was her. The call came unexpected as we spoke till midnight. I immediately attended her call, as she spoke I sensed nervousness in her voice. It made me worried and I asked her where is she.

She instead asked me where was I? I replied, I am home, why? She asked me, how long would it take for you to reach Airport? This made me worried and curious. I asked her why is she asking me and to this she replied playfully ‘I have just landed at the Delhi airport, can we meet now?’ This confused me and I shot her with so many questions, to which she replied ‘Come quickly I will tell you everything’.

I got ready in no time, started my bike and left to Airport but amidst all this hurriedness I did not forget to take the gift which I had missed giving her earlier. I had not one but thousand questions running in my mind as to what she was doing in the airport as we spoke till late last night and she never told me she was travelling to Delhi. I was happy, I was worried and I was anxious to meet her. I reached and saw her at the arrival terminal, she immediately ran towards me and we hugged each other. Seeing her smile at me, all my tension vanished as she was all right. I could not wait and asked her whatever questions I had in mind and all she did was, she just smiled at me and boy, I again fell in love with her that moment.

After a while, she told me she had to catch a flight to Chandigarh via Delhi and she had 3 hours of time. She took this way just to meet me. Without wasting a second I gave her the gift and she was so happy seeing it and said ‘finally my gift reached me’ and we hugged again. Those three hours just flew off like minutes.

She knows I love surprises and this kind of, where I never expected we would be meeting was the one which took my breath away. That Sunday and those few hours spent with her will remain one of the most special days of my life. I wish such surprises happen daily to me where she is the one who gives them as I love life full of pleasant surprises. As I end writing this, let me tell you, I am meeting her in a week’s time and I have thought of a nice surprise for her.

The Art of Owing & Borrowing

Some people like to borrow things and they get high on it. They enjoy using what has been borrowed. I like collecting things. I like owning stuff. I don’t mind sharing -sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes not so much but I what I really like is having everything – small and big and nice and not so nice so that I never have to borrow anything. I am definitely not a borrower. It somehow steals a bit of comfort of the use with the perpetual sense of a debt hanging at the back of my mind. It may be because my sense of indebtedness is really high and the expectations from others really low! So, on some fine days when my friends take stuff which I own to make my life easier and I have to sort of borrow it from them back – those are the tough days! Today was one – the stuff was few books from my shelf someone has borrowed and owned but which actually I own and am trying to borrow back.
